Issue
Some users have reported issues connecting to remote systems with MRC if the remote system is running Sophos Anti-Virus 10.0. When the connection is initialized, MRC displays the message, "Waiting for Initial Screen" indefinitely and does not show the remote screen.
Resolution
We have resolved this issue in version 9.0 of the client agent. For the most reliable resolution, upgrade the client to the latest agent version. If you prefer not to upgrade the client, try the workaround in KB400111.
Note: If you are experiencing this issue, uninstall the existing MRC client agent prior to installing the new one. The following procedure describes the best method for doing this.
To replace the MRC client agent on systems affected by the Sophos issue:
- Remove the DameWare Mini Remote Control service from the remote system.
- Delete the folder,
C:\Windows\dwrcs on the remote system.
- Install version 9.0 of the MRC client agent.
- Connect to the remote system using MRC 9.0.
