Assigning a custom port for email notifications in MRC

The information in this article applies to:
  • DameWare Mini Remote Control - Version(s) 8.0

The Email option on the Additional Settings tab in Mini Remote Control Properties on MRC clients instructs the program to send an email to the address you specify anytime an MRC user establishes a remote connection to the client computer. By default, the program uses email port 25. Currently, the Email Notification dialog does not provide the option to customize this port. To use a custom email port for MRC email notifications, complete the following procedure.

To assign a custom port for DameWare email notifications:

  1. Stop the DameWare Mini Remote Control service on the client computer.
  2. Open Registry Editor (regedit.exe).
  3. Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > DameWare Development > Mini Remote Control Service, and then select Settings.
  4. Add the DWORD Value, SMTP Port: Click Edit > New > DWORD Value, and then enter SMTP Port.
  5. Assign a valid port number to the new parameter:
    1. Select the new value, and then click Edit > Modify.
    2. Select Decimal.
    3. Enter the decimal port value. For example, to use the default port, enter 25.
    4. Click OK.
  6. Restart the DameWare Mini Remote Control service.
